Clayface is making waves at the box office.
2026’s Clayface, helmed by director James Watkins and written by Hossein Amini and Mike Flanagan, features Tom Rhys Harries portraying the iconic shape-shifting villain from DC Comics. This film serves as the third installment in the newly reimagined DC Universe, following the 2025 success of Superman and the 2026 misfire, Supergirl. While Supergirl stumbled with $126.4 million in global earnings against a hefty budget of $170 million or more, the DC Universe has resonated with audiences, thanks in part to the acclaimed HBO series, Lanterns.
According to Warner Bros., as of Sunday morning, Clayface is expected to wrap its opening weekend with a three-day total of $43 million. This figure includes $24 million from domestic markets, where it is projected to debut at number one over the documentary hit You Can See Everything, along with an additional $19 million from international territories.
Although this represents the lowest global opening for the franchise to date, it comes with the smallest budget at approximately $44 million, placing the film just $1 million shy of covering its production costs within its opening weekend.
