AI Artists Featured at Korea Showcase in Mip London

On Monday, the Korea format showcase at Mip London unveiled an impressive array of production styles and techniques. The event featured a diverse lineup of innovative formats, highlighting the evolving landscape of the industry.

One of the standout presentations came from Studio Meta-K, which emphasized its use of artificial intelligence in production. CEO Kim Kwang Jibn noted that the costs associated with K-dramas have surged threefold over the past three years. However, by implementing an AI production pipeline, the company has significantly reduced its expenses. They are utilizing advanced technologies like digital doubles, game engines, deepfake technology, and generative AI to craft entirely AI-generated worlds and characters. Kim also introduced the company’s “Season” project, which showcases AI-generated virtual music artists inspired by the four seasons.

Included among Studio Meta-K’s showcased formats were “Competition for Queen’s Throne,” a musical romantic comedy with historical themes based on a popular web novel; “Grand Master Hani Park,” a fantasy series reminiscent of “The Witcher”; and the thriller “Wave of Fate.”

Sangsang Band presented “Monster Space,” a captivating science factual format that explores haunting architectural spaces worldwide, such as concentration camps and suicide forests, that are imbued with chilling and violent histories.

Studio CR introduced “Nanny Online: Flower Kids Project,” a global parenting communication initiative utilizing collective intelligence. Another format from the studio, “Park Your Prize,” challenges contestants to complete parking missions and answer quiz questions for a chance to win $50,000.

Apollo Pictures showcased “Time Traveler: Timeless Legacy,” a narrative about a protagonist who, while seeking his grandmother’s will, encounters a time traveler and journeys back to the 1930s. Boda Media Group’s “House of Crime” is a factual series addressing issues related to animal crime and rights.

HiGround, the company behind “Divorce Attorney Shin,” presented several projects including “Flower Blooming on a Blade,” a historical drama; a Korean adaptation of “The Good Place” starring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell; the occult horror series “Vigilatio: Awakening”; and the dramedy “The Age of Filiarch.”

BigHouse Entertainment introduced the survival format “The Little Summit” aimed exclusively at children, as well as a music and travel reality series titled “Symphony on the Road” and the third season of the gastronomy documentary “Royal Table.”
